Hey everybody, this Sunday @ Noon I am running a tournament to help us raise funds for the re-design on the Big Sioux Rec Area disc golf course in Brandon (just 8 miles east of Sioux Falls). We already have 9 new holes laid out, which we hope to move in the next few weeks. An additional 9 baskets will be purchased in July by the park, so by the end of the summer we will have another championship level 18 hole course near Sioux Falls.
This will be a fun, relatively short event starting at Noon (registration 11:15-11:45 am). Cost is $20, with $10 of this going into the pot for your division, and $10 going to the SF Disc Golf Club (to be used for signage and othe design costs for the new course). Format is 4 rounds of 9 holes, Open, Advanced, and Intermediate/Rec divisions. First ace in your division wins entire pot, or pot to be paid out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Consolation prizes for 1st to 3rd if someone does get an ace. The question is, do you always run the ace, or play conservative and get your birdie?? It's up to you. We will also have CTP, putting, and driving contests for several sponsor prizes. Hope to see you there. Get directions on PDGA.com course directory.

There is a park entry fee of $5.00 per vechicle, or $23 for an annual permit (which is a good thing to have since we have so many courses in SD State Parks!!)

Hey, Chainbangers, just a little note that might help inform people of events, we'd be glad to run a new article on the front page to help get your event out there. Also post them in the Events area so there is record of the event.

I have a quick question. What is your guys' average score on 18 holes at tut? I would be interested in that tournament, but want to know if I would be some what competitive.

It's hard to give you an average score, as we have players of a variety of skill levels that play in our leagues/tournaments. From the regular Tuthill Tees in tournament play the open players score in the 44-52 range, advanced in the 48-56 range, and intermediate in the 52-60+ range. Of course there are always a couple players in the intermediate and advanced divisions that score better than the ranges I wrote down, either because they need to move it up, or because they had a hot round. Consistency is really what determines when you need to move it up a division. What makes a pro is definately consistency.

I would encourage you to come to a few tournaments, as it is adds another dimension to the game, and they are quite fun. Tournaments are also great places to meet other disc golfers, and pick up some tips/techniques. I learn alot just watching the other people throw (even in the lower divisions).

I plan on coming to the tournament on the 17th and entering in the Intermediate division. I don't think I will be competitive but I want to try a tournament .
