I wanted to give everyone a heads up about the annual Cedar Creek Open. And I wanted to remind everyone who already knows that it is just a little over a month away!

The Cedar Creek Open will be held on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15 at Cedar Creek Disc Golf Course in Fairmont, MN. That's right, we have expanded to a two-day event. We will be playing a total of four rounds. Two rounds each day, one on each of our two courses. We have also bumped the tournament up to a PDGA B-tier.

Lots of added cash for the pros, and lots of added prizes for the Ams. All Ams will also receive a custom stamped tournament disc as part of their players pack. We will also be having free water and soda on the courses for all the players.

We also hope to organize a few things for Saturday night. Not part of the tournament, just for kicks. Possibly some cash skins games. Night doubles. Who knows. We have two courses to work with, so there is plenty of room for everyone.

For more details and tentative schedule, visit www.cedarcreekdiscgolf.com
To register online, go to www.pdgasignup.com

Be sure to register soon, and book your hotels and camping before everything fills up! If you have any questions for me, post on here or email me at cedarcreekdiscgolf©gmail.com

See you all at the Cedar Creek Open!

Thanks for the heads up, it's unfortunate that you have it that weekend. haha, we're on our way back from Chicago that weekend and are planning on hitting a Saturday only event down in Iowa. Perhaps we can swing up and play the course though, we're headed back to Spearfish along I-90, likely heading through Sioux Falls.

Hey guys,

I was just wondering who was all going to this event?

Last weekend Trevor and I with the help of some friends installed 14 new pin locations, 8 on the east course, and 6 on the west course.

Also, the added cash amount is impressive, Trevor doesn't want me to say excactly how much, because he doesn't have it in hand yet, but the amount pledged is worthy of a trip to fairmont for sure.

Hopefully all you guys that are planning on going can get pre-registered soon and we can get this event filled up. It is going to be one of the better tournaments of the summer.

I am about 95 % positive that i will be going. As far as lodging and such does anyone know of a place relatively close to the courses?

Well, the courses are at the far south end of town, and most of the motels/hotels are at the northern end of town. Luckily it is fairmont, and driving from end to end takes like 10-12 minutes.

So, I think no matter where you stay, you will be relatively close.

The tee-off on saturday isn't until 11, which is nice so you won't have to get up at 6 in the morning to make the players meeting.

Also, The same weekend is Fairmont's annual summer festival called "Interlaken Days". Most of you probably don't care too much, but Saturday night (the 14th) there is a street dance with a beer gardens. So you can hit that up if you want to mingle with the locals.

Hey everyone,

Just a few updates about the Cedar Creek Open…

Last weekend we finished adding 14 new pin placements at Cedar Creek. We added 8 new pin placements on Cedar Creek East, and 6 new pin placements on Cedar Creek West. The baskets on these holes (as well as the others that already had alternates) will be moved after the first day of the tournament. So, even those of you who have played the two courses before will be seeing lots of new and challenging shots. You’ll need to be on your game for these ones!

We have also had tremendous success gathering sponsors for the Cedar Creek Open. We currently have $1700 added cash pledged by local restaurants and businesses. Every bit of this money will go to the players!!

So come on out and make this event a success. By supporting all of the tournament sponsors, we can be sure that this event will continue to grow and improve.

For those of you looking for lodging for the Cedar Creek Open, I made
up a little custom thing on google maps to show you all the options.
The list contains the hotels in town, a couple campgrounds, and some
rentable cabins by the lake.

Here is the link:
http://tinyurl.com/6o4mt3

Here is the full one:

Let me know if you have any other questions. Be sure to pre-register
for the event too. You don't want to make lodging reservations and
then have the tournament fill!

Thanks for keeping us informed. It still doesn't look like we'll make it through for the event. Don't suppose you'd feel like playing tour guide for a few of us a few days early would you?

I would certainly be willing to be your guide, if I'm around. If I'm not around, then there are several other great options for people to show you around that I can call too. And if that doesn't work out, guides aren't even necessary. The signage and score card maps on both courses are fantastic. You can check out the score cards in advance on the website, but they are available at the course. There is also a map of where the new course is located with respect to the parking lot. That seems to be the biggest point of confusion with most new visitors, besides the fact that it is on the maps and clearly marked at the practice hole on the way to the course. Anyway, sorry for the rant... the answer is yes, I would be glad to.

Alrighty, who's coming?! I know I talked to a lot of you at the Majestic. Probably to the point of being annoying. What can I say, I really want all of you guys to make it out. SD dominated the tournament last year, and I want all of you back to try it again. It looks like we are going to have a lot more players from the Twin Cities as well as Iowa to give you a run for your money. Or should I say, my money. Hah.

Please sign up within the next couple days if possible. I'm not sure who is familiar with the new PDGA online registration service. But with that service, I don't get the money for the people who sign up during the last week until AFTER the tournament. That means I have to pony up my own dough to cover the costs of paying out all this fat cash until I get the check the next week. So, be kind and sign up before Friday.
